(GREENVILLE, IL) -- Greenville Regional Hospital (GRH) and Hospital Sisters Health System (HSHS) have signed an agreement for GRH to affiliate with HSHS. The affiliation requires approval from the Illinois Health Facilities and Service Review Board. If approved at the Review Board’s March meeting, the affiliation would take effect in May.
“For more than a half century Greenville Regional Hospital has been privileged to care for our community. As we look to the next 50 years, we are excited to join with HSHS and deliver care to the community in a manner that is highly coordinated and easy to access,” said Brian Nall, President and CEO, Greenville Regional Hospital.
As an affiliate of HSHS, GRH will continue to provide residents of Bond and surrounding counties with high quality inpatient, outpatient, and 24/7 emergency care. GRH will also continue to have a robust medical staff with more than 50 specialty physicians. In addition, physicians from HSHS Medical Group and Prairie Cardiovascular will have clinic space on the GRH campus.
“We are thrilled that the community of Greenville has chosen HSHS to be their provider of health care services into the future. We look forward to partnering with the community and our new colleagues at Greenville Regional Hospital to continue delivering exceptional patient-centered care,” said Mary Starmann-Harrison, President and CEO, Hospital Sisters Health System.
“We are excited to join HSHS as they bring 140 years of experience caring for residents across downstate Illinois. This affiliation means that our local hospital can continue to deliver the high quality health care that our community has relied on for nearly six decades,” said Jeff Mollet, Chairman, Board of Trustees, Greenville Regional Hospital.
“As part of our HSHS Southern Illinois Division, Greenville Regional Hospital will join a family of clinical professionals dedicated to delivering highly integrated, accessible care close to home. We look forward to serving the residents of Bond County and are honored that the community has entrusted us with their health care services,” said James Dover, President and CEO, HSHS Southern Illinois Division.
HSHS is a multi-institutional health care system comprised of 13 hospitals and an integrated physician network across Illinois and Wisconsin. In Southern Illinois, HSHS provides care to patients at HSHS St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Belleville, HSHS St. Joseph’s Hospital in Breese, HSHS St. Joseph’s Hospital in Highland, HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital in Effingham; at HSHS Medical Group and Prairie Cardiovascular physician clinics; and at several medical group and hospital-affiliated community health centers.
When the affiliation is finalized in May, GRH will be renamed to reflect its new Catholic identity. Following approval by the Review Board, details regarding a blessing and dedication ceremony at the hospital will be announced.
